BEIJING (Reuters) – China has suspended timber imports from Australia’s New South Wales and Western Australia after local customs offices found pests in cargo from those states, the customs administration said late Wednesday.

The ban, which came into force on Wednesday, came after China suspended timber shipments from some Australian states, including Victoria and Queensland, amid deteriorating relations between Beijing and Canberra.
