Dundee United’s winning manager Jim McLean has died at the age of 83.

McLean led United in 1983 after moving to their Champions League champions, the Tayside club.

Along with Sir Alex Ferguson in Aberdeen, McLean helped accelerate the Scottish football team in the 1980s. New Firm challenges Celtic-Rangers unity

McLean was United’s captain for 22 years from 1971, winning two league titles in 1980 and 1981. He also led the last two finals. He has won the Scottish Cup five times under his responsibility.

Famous for his tactical skills and strict discipline, he became a powerful man in Europe. In 1984, they reached the European Cup semi-finals and the UEFA Cup final in 1987, and returned home to Barcelona.

According to Dundee United’s website, “Dundee United is deeply saddened by the death of Jim McLean.

“Jim is a striker in the Dundee United tradition who has been able to step into the forefront of European football for part of our history.

“He will miss us all very much. If we remember Jim, the flags in Tannadice will fly halfway through the mast.”

Jim, from the McLean family, is a beloved husband, father, and mother. Brother As an uncle and a mother-in-law, all clubs will sadly miss him.

His six decades of extraordinary success have become legendary legends not only at Danny United but around the world of football.

After leading Dundee United to the Scottish Premier League title in 1983, Jean’s success in the European Cup semi-finals of the season is unlikely to be repeated.

“Today is a very sad day for our family, but we will always be proud of Jim. We will pray for respect for our privacy at a difficult time for this family.”
