Sports Events and Tourism Association (Sports ETA) issued the following statement on the Congressional transition to pandemic relief package:
“We welcome the work of Congress in passing the latest law on pandemic assistance to bring support to American households and businesses, including sporting events and the tourism industry. We thank our elected officials for considering the industry information we actively shared throughout the process with our partners, US Travel, ASAE and Destinations International. This funding is extremely important because it now supports our city’s congress and visitor agencies and other organizations leading the travel and tourism industry.
The members of the Sports Events and Tourism Association, the nation’s authority and the trade association for sporting events and tourism, are made up of almost every urban destination in America that seeks to generate new revenue for their community through tourism. Our mission is to improve the quality of life of the community through sporting events and tourism. This sub-segment of tourism not only provides incremental taxes and direct income, it also provides significant sources of community pride. ”
